Her family was the owners of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery established in 1847, in Erie Pennsylvania where her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. served as the company's President and CEO until its closure in the year 1978. Jacobs began studying acting when she was eight years old and was enrolled in acting classes on Saturdays in the Pittsburgh Playhouse while growing up.She participated in The Pittsburgh Public Theater where she always competed in the Public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest leading her to be cast in the role of Titania in their stage production A Midsummer Night's Dream. Following her graduation from Mt. Jacobs and graduating in 2000, Lebanon High School, moved in New York City New York in the year 2000, where she attended The Juilliard School. The award for her bachelor's degree was given in 2004.
